excuses, excuses

This picture has nothing to do with the post. I just thought it was funny.
Is my child the only one to use excuses to get out of being in trouble? Here are the most recent.

1. Tyson was in time-out.
Me: Tyson, why aren't you listening to me?
Ty: Because I don't have big ears.

2. Tyson sitting at the table about to eat a yogurt. However, he decided to stick his pointer finger in it to see if he could touch the bottom.
Me: Tyson, take your hand out of your yogurt.
Ty: It's not my hand, mom.

And then it was my turn for excuses.
3. Tyson and I were talking about his preschool teacher who is going to have a baby.
Ty: How do babies get out of the tummies?

Me: The doctors get them out.

Ty: How?

Me: Ask your dad.

Ty: Dad, how to doctors get babies out of tummies?
Brent: pausing, looking at me not knowing what to say. Both of us look at Ty and say, "Call your grandpa."

AHHH! Ava has been asking me how Bennett got out of my tummy ever since he was born. My answers aren't satisfying either. let me know what grandpa says.

kendall and berks asked me that question ages ago and i just told them "out my bum" and they were fine with that answer, although they did ask me if it hurt, to which i said YES! that question is nothing compared to the one kendall asked a couple days ago: how does the baby get INSIDE your tummy? i told her to ask her dad...

Those are so funny. Kale came in and asked me the other day what his nipples were for. I told him to ask his dad, he said he already did and dad said to ask me. I felt fine telling him I didn't know what his nipples were for.

Seriously your posts always make me laugh so hard. And PS I am NOT doing well on any of the 3 Cs. Boo.

You gotta love the excuses! I think kids are programmed with them. Dallin asked me how I was going to get my baby out, (now that he is in school, I figured he better hear it from me instead of his friends, who know what they will say.) I just explained a little about how boys and girls are different. We didn't get far and he said, "I don't think I will tell anyone". I told him that was probably a good idea. Then he said to his dad, "you must be glad you aren't a girl!!!" You think I scarred him or what? He has never asked about it again!

Hee-hee! My nephew asked me just days before I had my last baby if the baby was going to come out of my mouth. All I could picture was myself puking up a baby. Hmmm... which is worse?

Looks like you have one smart little bugger on your hands. Best of luck to you!

Well at least Tyson is giving you funny and clever answers, Gwen just says "what?" like she can't hear me. Hello I am standing right next to you and you are looking right in my face. I have a feeling that she and Ty could come up with some pretty outrageous stuff together.

As for the babies question...well I have a feeling that this is going to be a good one, what will grandpa say to Ty on the phone?

We've been having that question also recently, for obvious reasons. I always say it takes a really really hard lot of work for the mommy and that's why you have to be extra special nice to me.

that is too funny!

So funny. You've got to post grandpa's reply when he gets one. My fave was the "it's not my hand."

Just tell them mommies have a "birth canal" which is a special tunnel for getting babies out. It's a lot of hard work for mom, and it hurts, but then you get a cute little baby!
